RHS Garden Wisley - Surrey

Founded in 1804 the Royal Horticultural Society's garden at Wisley in the English county of Surrey south of London is one of four gardens run by the Society. Lektron have worked extensively at Wisely and have completed projects at the Rosemoor site in Devon.

Our long working relationship with Wisley has established a variety of solutions and services directly related to the client.

Our most recent project for the RHS group was at Wisley Gardens, Guildford. Works related to a £250,000 refurbishment of the RHS Wisley laboratory building.

This six month project encapsulated all aspects of the electrical services infrastructure. A new 250 Amp main panel board was installed along side a new part L metered distribution boards for all power and lighting circuits. An LG3 compliant lighting system designed and installed by Lektron, comprising an emergency lighting system to BS5266. The entire building has been rewired including all voice and network cabling including fibre hub connections. The existing communications room was refurbished including all new fibre switching and terminations. A new fire alarm system, designed and installed to L1 standards was also part of the project which was also designed, installed and commissioned by Lektron’s own engineers.

Solutions for Success

Operating in a live environment we had to work closely with senior RHS staff to ensure a successful migration plan was constructed and fulfilled. Each phase of works had to be carefully time managed to ensure minimum disruption of ongoing business for the laboratory, the flexibility of our staffing structure enabling out of hours scheduling ensured this was possible. With RHS staff’s safety a paramount concern the team were still able to overcome technical and logistical challenges to secure completion of the project on time and under budget.
